Random Student Picker

Paste your class list, one name per line, and pick a student at random with one click — a fair, fast way to choose who answers next.

Your files are processed locally in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers.

How to use

  1. Type or paste your class list into the box, one name per line.
  2. Optionally turn on "Remove picked names" so everyone gets a turn before repeats.
  3. Click Pick to choose a student at random.

What is this tool?

Random Student Picker takes your class list and picks one name at random using your browser's random number generator. With repeats disabled, each picked student is removed from the pool, so you can work through the whole class fairly before anyone is picked twice.

Common uses

  • Calling on students fairly during class discussion
  • Choosing who presents first or answers a question
  • Assigning classroom jobs or roles at random
  • Picking teams or partners without bias

FAQ

Is my class list uploaded anywhere?

No. The picking happens entirely in your browser — your list is never sent to a server.

How do I make sure every student gets picked once before repeats?

Turn on "Remove picked names" — each student you pick is removed from the pool until you reset it.

Can I reuse the same list for multiple classes?

Yes, just update the names in the box and pick again — nothing is saved between sessions.
