What is this tool?
The fuel cost calculator turns three numbers — distance, consumption and price per liter — into the real cost of a car trip: total fuel cost, liters needed and, if you're sharing the ride, the fair share per person. It works with any currency since the result simply uses whatever currency your price is in.

FAQ
Where do I find my car's consumption?
The onboard computer shows the average; typical values are 5–7 l/100 km for efficient cars, 7–9 for mid-size and 9–12 for SUVs and vans. Note that highway speeds and city traffic push it up.
Does it work with miles or gallons?
The calculator uses km and l/100 km. For miles, multiply miles by 1.609 to get kilometers; MPG converts as 235.2 ÷ MPG = l/100 km.
Should wear and tear be included when splitting costs?
This tool calculates pure fuel cost. Many carpools add roughly 50–100% on top to cover wear, insurance and depreciation — that part is up to your agreement.
